FAQ
Our expert answers your questions
What is Dom Pérignon?
Dom Pérignon is one of the most prestigious cuvées in the world, crafted by Maison Moët & Chandon since 1936. It bears the name of the Benedictine monk Dom Pierre Pérignon (1638-1715), regarded as one of the pioneers of the Champagne method. The cuvée is exclusively a vintage: it is made only in the years when the quality of the grapes meets the demanding standards.
Why the 2015 vintage?
The 2015 vintage in Champagne is considered an excellent year: optimal grape ripeness, balance between acidity and sugar, a rich aromatic structure. Dom Pérignon declared this vintage, meaning its quality was judged worthy of the house's name. The aromatic profile combines the freshness of youth and the first signs of the complexity of a wine for keeping.
What pairing with caviar?
The codified pairing is with Beluga caviar, in the spirit of ‘the best of the bes’t. The complexity of the Dom Pérignon Vintage speaks to the depth of the Beluga, without either masking the other. It is the pairing of gift set no. 4 in our range. With other caviars (Oscietra, Kaluga), the pairing also works, though without quite the same level of decadence.
How many years can a Dom Pérignon be kept?
Dom Pérignon Vintage is made for its ageability: it typically improves between 10 and 30 years depending on storage conditions (cool cellar, darkness, lying flat). Enthusiasts distinguish several stages: youth (5-10 years) offers freshness and tension, maturity (10-20 years) brings complexity and depth, and great maturity (beyond 20 years) reveals notes unique to a wine for keeping.
