FAQ
Our expert answers your questions
Why choose mother-of-pearl for caviar spoons?
So as not to spoil the caviar, natural materials such as mother-of-pearl or horn are preferred. Mother-of-pearl is particularly well suited, as it imparts neither taste nor aroma, thereby preserving the finesse of the pearls. Silver is strongly discouraged: it oxidises caviar and leaves a metallic taste in the mouth. Metal in general tends to alter the aromas, which is why we always recommend mother-of-pearl, horn or equivalent natural materials.
Why use a caviar set?
The caviar set holds the tin at the perfect temperature throughout the tasting, on a bed of crushed ice. It is this thermal precision that preserves the aromas and the texture of the pearls from start to finish. Our caviar set consists of a glass vessel to be filled with crushed ice, topped with a metallised dome-shaped lid adorned with a sturgeon: a nod to the fish that is the emblem of caviar.
Which size of caviar set should you choose?
The size depends on the tin of caviar you are serving. Our caviar sets come in several sizes (30 g, 50 g, and even 125 g for the larger formats) to suit the various Caviar House and Prunier tin formats. Enthusiasts often prefer to keep two sets of different sizes, for tastings for two as readily as for several guests.
How should you care for mother-of-pearl accessories and caviar sets?
Mother-of-pearl spoons should be washed by hand in warm water with a mild soap. Avoid the dishwasher, which could alter or damage the natural material. For glass caviar sets, washing by hand in warm soapy water is enough. Decorated pieces (the metallised dome-shaped lid) call for particular care: dry them immediately after washing to preserve their shine and avoid marks.
Find the accessory that is right for you
Our selection comprises four families of accessories, all complementary to one another. Mother-of-pearl spoons, dedicated to serving caviar, come as a set of 6 or singly, to preserve the delicate flavour of the pearls.
The vodka set is designed to keep vodka beautifully chilled, with shot glasses and a dedicated space for ice. The caviar tin opener is an essential accessory for opening tins without affecting the product. Lastly, the caviar set, an elegant glass vessel to be filled with crushed ice, comes in several sizes (30 g, 50 g, 125 g) to suit every tin format.
How to choose your caviar accessories
It all depends on the tasting moment and the style you are after. For tasting in company, the set of 6 mother-of-pearl spoons gives everyone their own personal spoon.
For a polished table service, the caviar set holds the tin at the perfect temperature on a bed of crushed ice. For vodka, the shot glasses and the space for ice ensure the ideal chill. As for the tin opener, it becomes an essential accessory for the regular enthusiast.
Accessories, an extension of the gesture
The gesture of tasting is part of the experience in its own right. A mother-of-pearl spoon, a caviar set properly prepared, a chilled vodka shot glass: these accessories are no mere afterthought, they are full components of the moment. Our selection follows this logic, favouring natural materials and designs that serve the product.
Beyond the material, it is also the craftsmanship that counts. Our mother-of-pearl spoons, for instance, are made by hand, with slight variations in colour and shape that bear witness to their artisanal know-how.
Our caviar sets are likewise designed to accompany enthusiasts over the years, like true companions to the tasting.
