FAQ
Our expert answers your questions
Why shot glasses for vodka?
Shot glasses are small, straight glasses with a capacity of 3 to 5 cl, perfectly suited to the traditional tasting of vodka. Their small size respects the right serving quantities, while concentrating the aromas. The straight shape favours quick, precise service. In the Russian tradition, vodka is drunk in one, in a single gulp.
At what temperature should vodka be served?
Vodka is ideally served between 0 and -5°C, which corresponds to a bottle left in the freezer for several hours. The intense cold tempers the most volatile aromas, gives the vodka its characteristic silky texture and prepares the palate for the next tasting (caviar, smoked salmon). Serving vodka at room temperature would mask its quality.
Why an ice compartment?
The ice compartment keeps the glass cold throughout the meal, without needing to return it to the freezer between servings. It is a particularly practical feature for longer receptions. For optimum chilling, fill the compartment with crushed ice rather than ice cubes.
Can the vodka set be combined with a caviar set?
Yes, it is the ideal combination for a Russian-style tasting. A caviar set (tin on crushed ice) and a vodka set (shot glasses and ice compartment) are the two central elements of the traditional table setting. Several of our hampers offer this combination, accompanied by mother-of-pearl spoons.
Caviar shot glasses
The Vodka Shot Glasses embody the art of serving vodka in a revisited Russian tradition. Their 3 to 5 cl format matches the traditional serving quantities, where vodka is enjoyed in a single, clean sip. This precision of service is one of the hallmarks of historic Russian tasting.
The set includes a dedicated compartment for ice, which keeps the glass perfectly cold throughout the meal. The vodka, ideally served between 0 and -5°C, does not warm up between servings.
Vodka and caviar share a common history, codified by the tsarist courts of the 19th century. Our vodka set carries on this tradition while offering a contemporary design, in keeping with the consistency of our accessories range.
