Caviar House Qiandao
A premium caviar with an assertive style
Caviar House Qiandao is the fruit of a unique cross between two prestigious lines: Acipenser Schrenckii and Huso Dauricus, two sturgeon native to the Amur River, which forms the northern border between China and Russia. Raised in the crystalline waters of Lake Qiandao ("the lake of a thousand islands") at the heart of the Huangshan mountains, it offers large pearls ranging from amber to charcoal. On the palate, its firm, almost crisp membrane gives way to a creamy texture with pronounced briny notes.
A caviar of character that will win over discerning enthusiasts.

FAQ
Our expert answers your questions
What is a Schrenckii × Dauricus cross?
It is the controlled crossing of two sturgeon species native to the Amur River: Acipenser Schrenckii and Huso Dauricus. This cross yields a caviar with characteristics of its own, distinct from each of the parent species. Its pearls offer a singular aromatic signature that makes the reputation of Qiandao.
Where is Lake Qiandao?
Lake Qiandao, or "the lake of a thousand islands", is a large artificial lake set at the heart of the Huangshan mountains, in Zhejiang province, in eastern China. Its crystalline waters, particularly well suited to sturgeon farming, have made the site one of the main centres of premium Chinese caviar production since the 2000s.
Is Qiandao suitable for a first tasting?
Yes, it is even an excellent caviar for discovering a profile of character. Its briny intensity and its large, generous pearls make it immediately recognisable, without overly pronounced aromatic complexity. It is an alternative to Baeri for an introduction to a more distinctive caviar, particularly if you enjoy assertive marine profiles.
Why does the pearl have a firmer membrane?
The firmer membrane is a characteristic of the Schrenckii × Dauricus cross, which sets Qiandao apart from other caviars. On tasting, this trait calls for gently biting the pearl to release the creamy texture within. This signature tasting experience is a way to recognise a premium Chinese caviar.
Caviar House Qiandao
Caviar House Qiandao is the fruit of a unique cross between two sturgeon native to the Amur River. The result is a caviar with an assertive character, set apart from Oscietra and Beluga by a signature all its own.
The farming takes place in the crystalline waters of Lake Qiandao, "the lake of a thousand islands" at the heart of the Chinese Huangshan mountains. This geographical signature, where nature and water play a decisive role, gives Qiandao its distinctive aromatic palette. Caviar House was among the very first selectors to choose and champion Chinese caviar for its quality, from the emergence of this sector in the 1990s.
The pearls, of generous size, range from amber to charcoal. On tasting, their firmer membrane is gently bitten before releasing a characteristic creamy texture. On the palate, the highly distinctive taste combines pronounced briny notes and a buttery signature, in a roundness that extends the experience.
Qiandao is an invitation to discover an alternative signature to Russian or French caviar. This caviar of character is ideal for varying the pleasures of discerning enthusiasts.
